CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during March ended the reporting week on Thursday, Feb. 28, at $8.62-8.6450, mostly $8.6375, $3.25 to $5.75 cents per bushel higher compared to Feb. 22 noon bids of $8.5625-8.6125 for March delivery. There were no white club wheat premiums for nearby delivery for this week or last week. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for March delivery were $6.85-7.20, mostly $7.15. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began reporting week on Feb. 22 at mostly $8.4825 then moved lower to mostly $8.4525 on Feb. 25. On Feb. 26, bids moved higher to mostly $8.5050, and continued higher on Feb. 27 to mostly $8.6075. Feb. 28, the end of the reporting week bids moved to the weekly high of mostly $8.6375. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April and May $8.58-8.70 and August New Crop $7.5525-7.7025. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April and May $7-7.20, June $6.85-7.10, July $6.60-6.90 and August New Crop $6.65-6.75. Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Feb. 21, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, totaled 803.9 thousand MT compared to 940.6 thousand MT on Feb. 14, and 1812.2 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: South Korea 171.8, Philippines 160.0, Japan 149.5, Thailand 50.0, Taiwan 23.1, Nigeria 19.2, Burma 2.5, Malaysia 1.5, Canada 1.4, Mexico 0.9, China 0.5, Hong Kong 0.5, Vietnam 0.5 and total unknown 222.5. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Feb. 21, in 1000 MT for the 2012-13 marketing year, totaled 3436.1 compared to 3720.2 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Feb. 21, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2012, and ending May 31, 2013, in 1000 MT, totaled 2.4 compared to 1.6 on Feb. 14, and 2.1 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2012-13 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Taiwan 1.3, Japan 0.8 and South Korea 0.3. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Feb. 21, were 121.6 thousand MT compared to 82.8 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $300.50-304, $11.75 to $12.75 per ton higher than Feb. 22 bids of $288.75-291.25. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $296.25-306, $10.25 to $11 per ton higher than Feb. 22 bids of $286-295. Higher Chicago March corn futures supported corn cash bids. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for March delivery held steady with Feb. 22 noon bids at $270.
