Farmworker housing projects receive funding

USDA Rural Development has announced the approval of $6 million in loans and grants to support construction of 43 units of rental housing for farmworker families in Oregon.

The two planned complexes are among 12 facilities nationwide selected for funding, according to USDA undersecretary Dallas Tonsager.

The projects include an $8.5 million 23-unit development in the Wasco County area and a $5.5 million 20-unit apartment complex in Silverton.

Both projects are approved for $3 million in grants and loans.
