SALEM -- With its reception Feb. 4, the Oregon Farm Bureau was first up on a Capitol Activities Calendar that includes several farm and ranch educational events this year.

The Feb. 4 event was hosted by the Farm Bureau's Women's Advisory Council and included cake and educational displays on several issues of importance to Farm Bureau members.

Next up for agricultural activities at the Capitol this legislative session is Feb. 14 when the Oregon Wheat Growers League takes part in Oregon's birthday celebration.

The league has baked a cake and served it at the Capitol on Oregon's birthday during legislative sessions for at least the last 15 years, according to the wheat league.

Gov. John Kitzhaber is scheduled to speak at the function and take part in the cake-cutting ceremony.

Ranchers will take center stage in the Capitol's Galleria March 4 as the Oregon Cattlemen's Association celebrates 100 years.

Next up, the Oregon Potato Commission is sponsoring an event March 7, also in the Capitol's Galleria.

Friends of Family Farmers Family Farm and Ranch Rally Day is scheduled March 18, one day ahead of Natural Resources Day at the Capitol.

Natural Resources Day includes a reception for legislators at Willamette Heritage Center at Mission Mill later that day.

Dairy farmers take center stage at the Capitol April 3, following by the Oregon Small Woodlands Association Day April 23.
