Oregon State Statistician Chris Mertz has been named the Northwest regional director of the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Mertz will start in his new position in Olympia, Wash., June 16, he told the State Board of Agriculture at its meeting on June 5.

He is being replaced by Dave Losh, a statistician for the Washington Field Office of NASS.

Losh starts as Oregon state statistician July 1.

Also at the Board of Agriculture meeting, Tracey Liskey, first vice president of the Oregon Farm Bureau, was voted chairman of the board.

Liskey, formerly vice chairman, replaces Doug Krahmer.

Steve Van Mouwerik is the board's new vice chairman.

The Oregon Department of Agriculture also announced that the board currently has two openings.
