DOL offers labor law seminars

The U.S. Department of Labor will host seminars in Eastern Washington to explain labor laws to growers and farmworkers.

Employer sessions will cover the H-2A foreign guestworker program, the Migrant and Seasonal Worker Protection Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act. Topics include recordkeeping, wages, timekeeping, contractor registration, child labor, housing and transportation.

Farmworker sessions will cover employment and training resources. Community-based organizations will talk about support services.

The meetings will be at state WorkSource employment centers. All farmworker sessions will be 5 to 7 p.m. Locations and times of grower sessions are:

* WorkSource Columbia Basin, 815 N. Kellogg St., Kennewick, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., May 7.

* WorkSource Yakima, 306 Division St., 2 to 4 p.m., May 8.

* WorkSource Wenatchee, 215 Bridge St., 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., May 9.
