Open house features robotic milking equipment

AURORA, Ore. -- A DeLaval Voluntary Milking System will be the star of an open house on Wednesday, April 18.

The system -- said to be the first of its kind on the West Coast -- is installed at Mayfield Farm in Aurora, Ore.

The open house will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the farm, 25000 Butteville Road.

The DeLaval VMS allows for round-the-clock milking designed to optimize high quality milk yield, the company said in a statement.

The open house is sponsored by DeLaval and the Eggert family, which owns Mayfield Farm. An organic producer, Mayfield Farm installed one DeLaval Voluntary Milking System this year.
