Meat summit to include discussion of access to slaughter facilities

PLACERVILLE, Calif. -- Registration is open for the 2013 California Meat Summit here March 27, with discussions that will include improving small beef producers' access to slaughter facilities.

During the meeting, the High Sierra Resource Conservation and Development Council will review results from activities supported by a Rural Business Enterprise Grant it received in 2011, according to a University of California calendar of events.

Speakers will also discuss regulatory streamlining, implementation of small niche meat harvesting and processing facilities in California and a producer value-added meat economic analysis template.
