SACRAMENTO - The U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service is making a push to reach California farmers and ranchers who haven't yet answered the 2012 Census of Agriculture.
Taken every five years, the census looks at farms, value of land, market value of agricultural production and other statistics for use by town planners and policy makers.
NASS representatives announced they would be making calls and visiting farms throughout the spring to elicit responses to the census. Federal law requires a response from everyone who receives a census form.
Farmers and ranchers can return their forms online at www.agcensus.usda.gov or send them by mail. For more information, call (888) 424-7828.
