Templeton, California-April 25, 2012-Templeton FFA members recently traveled to the 84th Annual State FFA Leadership Conference in Fresno, CA.  Eighteen students represented the chapter attending leadership workshops, competing in awards interviews, and taking part in the delegate process of the convention.

Senior Samantha Mackle was recognized on stage as the Regional Star Placement Winner.  Regional Star Reporter recognition included Templeton FFA Reporter, Junior Kayla Hildebrand.  Additionally, Templeton FFA was recognized as a State Gold Superior Chapter and the Regional Winner in the National Chapter award.

Kayla Welcher, a Templeton FFA Senior, competed in the Prepared Public Speaking contest.  Her speech, investigating the use of sub therapeutic antibiotics in the livestock industry, earned her third place in the state competition.

Six members competed in state proficiency interviews.  Senior Cody Dye was named the state winner in Agriculture Sales Placement, Junior Ali Einolander was named the state winner in Equine Production Entrepreneurship, and Senior Samantha Mackle was named the state winner in Home and Community Development.  All three students will submit their applications for national scoring over the Summer, in hopes of competing at the national contest in Indianapolis, Indiana in October.

FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education.
