The Pendleton FFA Chapter hosted their first annual Haunted House Fundraiser this year at the chapter land lab. The land lab is typically used for members to raise animals or crops but with the help of the chapter members and community volunteers, Mark and Michelle Herburger, it was converted into spook-tacular family fun event. “It was a lot of fun for me to watch people go in” said Chapter member Valerie Marshall” I knew what was going to happen and to be able to watch them jump and hear them scream when someone popped out was more enjoyable than going through myself.”

            Within the community of Pendleton, there are not a lot of family oriented activities that center around Halloween.  Our chapter reporter, Ryan Herburger, saw a need that was missing and took a family passion and turned it into a chapter community activity.  “I really enjoyed the opportunity to get to plan the haunted farm lab and talk to people after they had gone through. The compliments from the community alone were very rewarding, and the $1,600 we made was the cherry on top!” said Ryan Herburger.

The Haunted Farm lab was a great way for the local FFA chapter to connect with the community as well as get hands on experience with planning a large event, running a business, liability, and having fun while raising funds. The Chapter would like to thank everyone who attended and invite everyone to come next year.
