Ontario FFA was honored to represent Ontario High School at the 85th annual Oregon FFA State Convention on the Oregon State University Campus. Convention was held from March 22-25. We want to thank all of the community service organizations and numerous businesses that were willing to help with preparation for convention. This year’s convention theme was “Live Your Legacy” and after experiencing convention, we are all striving to do just that. We are so honored to announce that yet another Ontario member is serving as a State Officer. Jessica Roland was elected as the 2013-2014 State Secretary while Garrett Kitamura retired as the 2012-2013 State Reporter. Carter Fritsch placed third in Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Jessica Roland placed fourth in Extemporaneous Public Speaking, and Ben Wyborney placed fourth in Beginning Public Speaking. Our Ag Issues team which consisted of Julia Burnett, Morgan Springer, Chance Salutregui, Lacie Bacon, Yulissa Banuelous, Chris Matthews, and Rosie Oliva placed third. Brecklin Milton placed third in the Cooperatives Quiz, and Derek Morales won the Goat Proficiency. Derek Morales, Jessica Maness, Morgan White, Reilly Collins, Rose Turner, and Whitney Oliva all received their FFA State Degrees. Reilly Collins also sang the National Anthem at one of our evening sessions. Brecklin Milton had the privilege of sharing her FFA experience by speaking at the sponsor dinner on the opening night of convention. We could not have asked for a better convention and we are looking forward to putting all of our new skills to use!
