North Lake FFA Competes at District Sales Contest



            The 2012 Central Oregon District Sales contest was held on December 5th in Culver, Oregon. Ten of the North Lake FFA members traveled to Culver to participate and help out with the contest. Representing the A team was: Coney Kittredge, Mariam Horton, Andrew Miles, and Trent Emery. Representing the B team was: Shannon (Jennifer) Fisher, Daniel Libolt, Eric Nelson, and Barry O’Leary.


Each member completed a fifty question test on sale procedures and techniques, and then created a scenario in which they sold “their product” to the judge. Each member also competed in individual competitions such as Prospecting, Customer Relations, Telephone Skills, and Advertising.



Andrew Miles and Eric Nelson competed in prospecting where they were required to review a scenario and then attempt to sell a product using the cold sales call method. Andrew received 1st and Eric received 4th in prospecting.



Mariam Horton and Shannon Fisher competed in Advertising where they were given product information to design a point of sale poster. Mariam received 2nd and Shannon received 3rd in Advertising.



Trent Emery and Barry O’Leary competed in Telephone Skills where they were required to review information such as prices and last minute changes for out of stock items. They were given an order form and received a call from the judge. They each had ten minutes to take an order. Barry received 5th and Trent Received 7th place in Telephone Skills.



Conley Kittredge and Daniel Libolt competed in Customer Relations where they were required to review a store policy and pertinent information in order to solve a problem face to face with a customer. Conley placed 5th and Daniel placed 7th in customer relations.




Conley Kittredge competed in sales presentation and received the highest score in selling, placing 1st.



North Lake received 4th place in an overall competition score which is composed by adding each competitor’s scores together. Congratulations to the North Lake FFA Sales Team.
