The New Happenings of the Willows California FFA Chapter
Willows, CA, December 4, 2012: Our wishes came true in a flurry! Our FFA organization is have an amazing year so far! In October, many of you helped to donate to the 14 FFA members that were sent to Indiana for a life changing experience at the National FFA Convention. Trust me, they were greatly changed! These young members landed in Indy sick and wondering why, but as the week went on those whines turned into laughter, happiness, and the young members that had landed in Indy were changed to strong, positive leaders. Those leaders came back to California, ready to lead our organization and better serve this community that has given so much.
We also have an outstanding member growing among us. Many of you may know her as a sports star, honor roll student, or a productive FFA member, but now she is a state finalist in the RCD speaking competition as well! Kaylin Renfro has been very successful in the many things that she pursues. She competed at the regional level taking 1st place, allowing her to be sent to San Diego to compete at the state level where she placed 4th. She says that the FFA helped her greatly on her public speaking and she wouldn’t have been able to make it without the help she’s gotten through the FFA. Congratulations Kaylin!
Our beginning freshmen also attended the Greenhand Conference at the end of September. These members learned how to better serve their chapter and how to become involved. These young members are now maturing FFA members.
Many of our eager members were sent to the North Valley Section competitions at Colusa High School to test their knowledge of the FFA handbook in the BIG contests, quiz them on their Record books skills in the Farm Records contest, and show their memory skills when tested on their knowledge of Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Thank you for all the support you have given to these growing members. The FFA helps ready these kids for the future in speaking skills, keeping records, responsibilities, and to become leaders in their community. Thank you!
