North Clackamas FFA Excelled at County Fair

CLACKAMAS, Or. – Forty-four North Clackamas FFA members attended the Clackamas County Fair in August, exhibiting their supervised agricultural experience also know SAE’s. Students’ projects, ranged from chickens and rabbits to sheep and cattle.

The students worked extremely hard prior to the fair. All the students had to work off multiple hours on the land lab, our student ran school district farm, to be eligible to show at the fair. Working off hours may consist of working in the garden by pulling weeds, planting and watering vegetables, or taking care of or feeding the livestock. Hard work pays off, especially for the NC FFA members. Who received champion and reserve champions in showmanship to conformation, including Sarah Cook with the reserve champion FFA market lamb, Shelby Donato with her FFA market hog, Larissa McGuire with the champion Market steer, Maggie Means with the champion pen of fryers, champion cavy showman and the champion rabbit showman, Jordanne Marggi with the champion sheep showman, Zach Wetzler with the reserve champion sheep showman. As the week came to an end at the Clackamas County Fair it was time to put the member’s projects through the sale. The sale at the end of the week is a long process every market animal is put through the sale. Because there are so many sponsors for the livestock exhibitors almost every market animal is sold.
