The total value of Idaho's 2012 crops decreased 2 percent to $3.9 billion, from $3.97 billion in 2011, according to a Feb. 15 USDA report.
USDA attributes the decrease largely to value reductions of hay and potatoes. According to USDA, the value of all Idaho potatoes, at $938 million, was down 10 percent from 2011, and the value of all Idaho hay, at $880 million, was down 17 percent.
Idaho barley, however, increased 34 percent in value from 2011, at $342 million.
Nationwide, the 2012 crop's value, at $226 billion, was up 6 percent from 2011, when it was $212 billion.
