Very First State Convention For Echo FFA
Echo FFA attended their first state convention as a new chapter. The 84th State FFA Convention was held in Hermiston, Oregon. Students competed, attended workshops and served as delegates to nominate the 2012-2013 state FFA officers. Zachary Christenson competed in the state creed speaking competition and did an outstanding job. Students attended workshops ranging from: Capital Press, Oregon Ag In The Classroom, visiting state officer workshops, and so many more. Other members also served on committees to select a winner for proficiencies, and the nomination committee for the state officers. Here are what students said about State Convention: Ryan Morris said, “I liked the workshops they had, and the sessions as well. I might go back next year, if I could .”
Naomi Sherban said “Convention was a blast! The people were great, the sessions were amazing, and it is something I will never forget. I can't wait till next year!”
Bailey Srofe said “Too hard to describe. Honestly everybody should have some part in the FFA so many opportunities to meet new people, and try new things. Oregon FFA is the best. :)”

CDE Day’s at Oregon State University
We have several students competing in this years CDE Days events ranging from meat evaluation, livestock judging, horse evaluation, and dairy food evaluation. Students are working hard in their different competitions some ranging from meeting on weekends, to taking time to study at home. These are events that you don't need to have a lot of background in to get started because you learn as you go. CDE Days is always held at Oregon State University (OSU). Which will be held May 6th through May 8th 2012. Wish our teams luck as they practice hard and try to bring home a state banner at their competitions.

Great Turn Out For National FFA Week
We had a great turn out for FFA week, the elementary kids were excited to get out of class to come learn about and pet the different types of animals that the Ag. 2 class brought. They had everything from a turkey, peacock, miniature horse, sheep, piglets, goat, and a horse. We served staff breakfast as well, most of the staff came to enjoy the wonderful pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Staff said that the food was good, and that it filled them up. Ag. 1 students went into the elementary classrooms grades K-5 and taught a lesson that were made by Oregon Ag in the Classroom, courtesy of OSU. They taught lessons consisting of where the different products come from in the world to make the snickers bar, how apples grow and the process, and how pancakes are really made.

$200 Dollar Donation To Chapter
Eric Coffelt won $500 dollars at the State FFA Convention from Capital Press for submitting the most agricultural related topics with the best quality. Eric Donated $200 dollars to the Echo FFA at their FFA meeting on Monday April 9, 2012. His reason behind donating this money was “Ms. Noland was a positive role model to me. She has done a lot for me and she was always by my side when I needed her and she was always open to talk when anyone needs someone to talk to.” Ms. Noland thanks for everything that you do for our chapter !
