Tax changes threaten farmers

I have been watching the bills cross the tables at the Washington Legislature. One bill causes concern for farmers producing raw products.

The state is wanting to take away the sales tax exemption on things that farmers use to produce crops. It is a tax on a tax, and the consumer pays more.

This tax game government is playing to garner more funds is just another way to raise taxes, and only the government wins.

It amounts to inflation and cripples the producers. Building funds, tractor parts, rental of fertilizer and chemical trailers, seed -- they are trying to take away all the things that keep farmers in business, then you have no food and foreign countries can take over U.S. without firing a shot by withholding food at will.

We must keep farmers in business. Even if there is not a lot of money made by being farmers, it is a way of life for them.
