Workshop to focus on dairy, beef herd health

JEROME, Idaho -- AgSource Cooperative Services is offering a workshop in Spanish and English on dairy and beef herd health and breeding on April 24 in Jerome.
Called "Improving Reproduction and Overall Health of Your Herd," the sessions are aimed at beef and dairy producers, managers, employees and veterinarians. It will be held at the Snake River Elks Lodge, 412 E 200 S, just off Hwy 93.
The workshop will offer concurrent sessions in English and Spanish at 9 a.m. and again at 5 p.m.
The Spanish presentation will be:
* Understanding Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD), the effects on your operation and proper sampling procedures, presented by Mireille Chahine, University of Idaho extension dairy specialist and Celina Matuk, graduate student
* Synch Program Compliance, presented by Brad Bair, Zoetis (formerly Pfizer).
English sessions will be:
* Understanding Bovine Viral Diarrhea, the effects on your operation and proper sampling procedures, presented by Ron Kramer, technical sales representative, IDEXX.
* Genomic Reliability and Synchsmart Bulls, presented by Jim Engle, Genex
The morning session will include a free breakfast. The 5 p.m. session will include a free dinner.
