Erin Peek from Snohomish County as been selected as the 2013-2014 Washington State Dairy Ambassador.
She was one of six finalists at the 58th Annual Washington State Dairy Ambassador Coronation on Friday at the Everett Holiday Inn.
Annie Birklid from Enumclaw and Olivia Zurcher from Mesa were selected as alternate ambassadors, according to a press release from the organization.
As a representative of the Dairy Farmers of Washington, the state ambassador and alternates will visit schools, attend county fairs, appear at Washington Interscholastic Activities Association events and speak before the Washington legislature promoting the health and nutrition benefits of dairy products. A dairy ambassador typically makes 400 public appearances during her year-long tenure.
Peek will also receive a scholarship to continue her education.
The 2012 ambassador was Abby Lohman and the alternates were Elizabeth Beck and Jennifer Callanan.
The other 2013 finalists were:
* Jennifer Swenson from Lewis County.
* Alayna Loveall from the Inland Northwest.
* Samantha Mesman from Skagit County.
The ambassador program is administrated by the Washington State Dairy Women and was begun in 1955.
