Oregon Ag in the Classroom and Greg Satrum, co-owner of Willamette Egg Farm in Canby, will be presented the Agri-Business Council of Oregon's top two awards at the 14th annual Denim & Diamonds Dinner and Auction next month.
Satrum is being named the 2011 agriculturist of the year by the organization for his work in advocating the importance of agriculture to the state and in advancing legislation reforming egg-laying-hen cage requirements.
Oregon Ag in the Classroom is the winner of the 2011 ag connection award, an award given annually in recognition of outstanding leadership in connecting the public with agriculture. Ag in the Classroom successfully reached more than 100,000 students with their programs last year, according to an ABC press release.
The 2011 Denim & Diamonds Dinner and Auction is scheduled for Nov. 18 at the Governor Hotel in downtown Portland. Tickets are $110 for ABC members and $145 for nonmembers.
