JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) -- Officials with the Conservation Fund say the group has secured a conservation easement protecting the last bottleneck along the pronghorn migration route.

The conservation easement protects 2,400 acres of the Carney Ranch in Sublette County. The ranch lies along the migration path, which wends from Grand Teton National Park, up the Gros Ventre River, over the Kinky Creek Divide and into the Green River basin.

Conservation Fund State Director Luke Lynch says the easement prevents development and ensure sound management of the ranch. He says the Carney family made a significant donation to make the easement possible.

Former Teton County Commissioner John Carney is president of the ranch. He says it was the lifelong dream of his father, Otis Carney, to protect the land.
