Tacoma council approves water bottling contract
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- The Tacoma City Council approved a contract Tuesday between the city water utility and the Niagara Bottling company for a $50 million plant the company plans to open next spring in Frederickson.
Niagara hopes to begin bottling Tacoma water in the spring of 2014. The plant will employ 36 people.
The News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/13E1sKI) Tacoma Water will sell about a quarter of the 1 million gallons a day to the plant at an 8 percent discount. Beyond that, Niagara pays the industrial rate.
