Navy makes big purchase from biofuel venture

TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The Navy has made the biggest biofuel order yet from a company set up as a joint venture between Tulsa-based Syntroleum Corp. and Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc.

The company, Dynamic Fuels LLC, said Monday the 450,000-gallon order is an important step for the company.

The biofuel is made from non-food grade grease and animal fats at a plant in Geismar, La.

Dynamic Fuels management committee director Jiff Bigger told the Tulsa World (http://is.gd/BBIjnq ) the order shows the company is building momentum in the market for renewable fuels.

Dynamic Fuels began operations last year.
