Sheriff: Shots fired at E. Idaho wind farm

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- The Bonneville County sheriff's office says bullets fired at a wind farm in eastern Idaho have caused nearly $5,000 in damage.

The sheriff's office says BP Wind Energy reported earlier this week that a wind turbine had been shot at twice, resulting in damage to wiring and other equipment.

The damage was first noticed on Dec. 22.

Authorities say the vandalism at the wind farm near Ammon amounts to a felony that is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $1,000 fine.
