2 killed when sugar beet truck strikes cows

BURLEY, Idaho (AP) -- Cassia County officials say a truck loaded with sugar beets struck some cattle in the road leading to the deaths of the truck driver and his passenger.

The sheriff's office says 68-year-old John O. Tolman of Heyburn was driving the truck on State Highway 81 east of Declo on Saturday when he hit the cattle and lost control of the truck. The truck went off the road and hit some trees.

Tolman and 33-year-old Cynthia I. McVey of Fernley, Nev., were killed.

Undersheriff George Warrell says the crash remains under investigation.
