Franklin Foods to open Arizona cream cheese plant

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) -- A fast-growing cream cheese company is opening up a Casa Grande plant.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/UdEvFE) that the Delray Beach, Fla.-based Franklin Foods is opening up its second company manufacturing facility and production is expected to begin in early 2013.

Company officials say the Casa Grande 90,000-square-foot facility will produce a full line of cultured cream cheese and cream cheese-based products, including the newly announced Greek cream cheese. The facility is expected to create 59 new jobs over the next two years.

The company says it would continue to purchase local milk and cream from United Dairymen of Arizona.
