The Chelan FFA was out on the “FFA Highway” competing in 2011 Washington State FFA Apple Career Development Event in Wenatchee as part of the Washington State Horticultural Association Annual Meeting. Twenty-two teams representing fourteen FFA Chapters from around the state were represented in the CDE.  Contestants competed in ten different practicum areas related to the tree fruit industry including grading, blemish identification, entomology, fruit maturity, pesticide safety, variety identification, and tray evaluation.   The event was sponsored by the Washington Apple Education Foundation, who provide a luncheon, guest speaker and $1000 scholarship to the individual winner. 

The Chelan Falls All Stars Team brought home the State Champion Plaque for the fourth time in the last eight years.  Team members were Jake Straub who was the 2^nd place individual, Apol Blanco who was the 8^th place individual, Derek Ahl who was the 9^th place individual, James Blixt and Lindsey Brownfield.  Lupe Villasenor earned the 3^rd place individual plaque .

The Chelan Red team of Bobby Hanson, Javier Rivera, Jesus Rodriguez, German Guttierez, and Alex Diaz earned an 8^th place plaque.  Also judging for the Chelan FFA were Ben Lorenz, Levi Greenway and Clieder Guillen.
