Canby Places at 2011 Mt. Hood District Soil Judging
Five Canby FFA members participated in the 2011 Mt. Hood District Soil Judging Contest held on Oct. 4, in Jefferson.
Canby FFA members, Don Naylor, Collin Matthias, Tashney West, Justin Allphin, and Ben Allphin competed on the team. Don Naylor placed first overall in the contest, followed by Tashney West placing 6th and Collin Matthias 10th. The team placed 2nd overall, earning the red banner.
The Soils contest introduces students to the evaluation of soils. Tests performed on the soils are similar to what a soil scientist would perform in the field.
Congratulations to all five team members for their success.
