SACRAMENTO - The California Rangeland Trust had added more than 13,000 acres to its conservation portfolio, announcing easements on four properties throughout the state.

The new easements are on Payne Ranch in Colusa County, the JS Ranch in Shasta County, Old San Simeon Village in Monterey County and Oakvale Ranch in Mariposa County, according to a news release.

The conservation easements were transferred from or completed in partnership with the American Land Conservancy, the release states.

The largest property is the 5,940-acre JS Ranch, which is privately owned and is home to portions of Old Cow Creek and Clover Creek, which feed into the Sacramento River. The ranch is home to numerous wildlife and sensitive fish species.

In all, the California Rangeland Trust has protected more than 275,000 of productive grazing lands in California through the use of conservation easements.
