Legislation that increases and extends a tax credit program for crop donations has unanimously passed the Oregon legislature.

A tax credit for crop donations has been extended and increased by the Oregon legislature.

The bill, SB 1541, was unanimously passed by the Oregon House on March 4 and the Senate on Feb. 14.

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber plans to sign the bill into law, according to a spokesperson.

The legislation raises the tax credit from 10 percent to 15 percent of the donated crop’s value and extends it until 2020.

A previous version of the crop donation tax credit expired in 2011.

The program will cause Oregon to forgo a total $2.5 million in revenue while the tax credit is in place.
