CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during March ended the reporting week on Thursday, Feb. 27, at $7.0425-7.30, mostly $7.15. Bids were 13.50 to 29.25 cents per bushel lower than Feb. 20 bids for March delivery of $7.3350-7.4350.

White club wheat premiums for this week and last week ranged from 50 to 60 cents, mostly 53 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids.

One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for March delivery were 8.57-8.63, mostly 8.6075.

Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Friday at mostly $7.3050, then rose to mostly $7.3125 on Feb. 24, continued higher to mostly $7.3675 on Feb. 25, then fell to mostly $7.2825 on Feb. 26. Bids ended the reporting week Feb. 27 at the weekly low of mostly $7.15. Several exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week.

Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April and May $7.0425-7.30, June $7.075- 7.0575 and August New Crop $6.64-6.74.

One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: April and May 8.57-8.63, June not available and August New Crop $7.5425-7.6925.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Feb. 20 for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 1,121.8 thousand MT compared to 1,085.8 thousand MT on Feb. 13 and 803.9 thousand MT one year ago.

Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1,000 MT: Japan 267.4, South Korea 254.9, Philippines 148.7, Thailand 65.0, Yemen 45.0, Guatemala 41.1, Indonesia 40.0, Colombia 20.0, Nigeria 19.2, Taiwan 11.1, Malaysia 10.3, Burma 2.8, Mexico 2.2, Vietnam 2.2, China 2.0, Hong Kong 0.4, Canada 0.3 and total unknown 189.2. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Feb. 20 in 1,000 MT for the 2013-14 marketing year, totaled 2864.2 compared to 3436.4 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Feb. 20, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1,000 MT, totaled 43.0 compared to 43.2 on Feb. 13 and 2.4 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1,000 MT: Japan 35.8, South Korea 6.6 and Taiwan 0.6. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Feb. 20, were 121.8 thousand MT compared to 121.6 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were also not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for February delivery were $265, steady compared to Feb. 20 noon bids.
