Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was at a standstill this week. There were no confirmed trades and demand was moderate. With the weather coming across most of the Western states it is has slowed or halted most shearing for the time being. Domestic wool trading on a greasy basis was at a standstill this week. There were no confirmed trades.

Feb. 28

Compared to last week: Slaughter lambs under 100 lbs. were steady to $10 higher, instances $20 higher; over 100 lbs. $5-10 lower. Slaughter ewes were uneven, steady to $20 higher at New Holland, Pa., and $5-10 lower at San Angelo, Texas. Feeder lambs were steady. At San Angelo 3,267 head sold in a one day sale. No sales in Equity Electronic Auction. In direct trading slaughter ewes steady; feeder lambs firm. 4,500 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs under 170 lbs. were $2 higher, while over 170 lbs. were weak and 9,600 head of formula sales of carcasses under 65 lbs. were not well tested; 65-75 lbs. were $3 lower; 75-85 lbs. were steady; 85-95 lbs. were $1-2 higher and over 95 lbs. were not tested. 5,876 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs. and down 20.53 lower; 45-55 lbs. $8.88 lower; 55-65 lbs. $5.07 lower and 65 lbs. and up $.02-1.27 higher.

San Angelo: shorn and wooled 100-165 lbs. $140-162.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 1:

San Angelo: 40-60 lbs. $216-232; 60-70 lbs. $200-228; 70-80 lbs. $200-216, few $222; 80-90 lbs. $186-196; 90-100 lbs. $180-196.

DIRECT TRADING (Lambs with 3-4 percent shrink or equivalent):

4,500 Slaughter Lambs shorn and wooled 134-164 lbs. $146-176 (wtd avg $160.19); 175-177 lbs. $153-157 (wtd avg $156.27); no dressed sales reported.

Texas: 600 Slaughter Lambs 135 lbs. shorn show lambs 169.25.

California: 5,900 Feeder Lambs 70-90 lbs. new crop $212-220; 95-105 lbs. $190. 1000 Feeder Lambs 85-95 lbs. new crop 213 for Mar-April delivery.

Idaho: 300 Slaughter Ewes Utility and Good 1-3 $45; Utility 1-2 $25.

SLAUGHTER EWES:

San Angelo: Good 2-3 (fleshy) $57-64; Utility and Good 1-3 (medium flesh) $65-72; Utility 1-2 (thin) $59-66; Cull and Utility 1-2 (very thin) 40-55.

FEEDER LAMBS Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: 50-70 lbs. new crop $212-224; 70-80 lbs. new crop $213-222; 80-100 lbs. new crop $213-218; 94 lbs. old crop $191.

REPLACEMENT EWES Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: no test.
