CASHMERE, Wash. — The Washington Wine Industry Foundation raised a record $120,000 at its 13th annual Angel Share Auction at the annual meeting of the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers in Kennewick, Feb. 6.

The money will go to industry good works, including $42,000 donated to the foundation’s scholarship fund. The foundation awarded $12,000 in scholarships at a luncheon on Feb. 7.

The auction featured more than 100 items and was attended by more than 450 industry members. Angel Share alludes to a belief that guardian angels watch over and perhaps share wine that evaporates from oak barrels as it ages.
