CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 30, at $6.5850-6.6350, mostly $6.61. Bids were 16.50 to 26.50 cents per bushel lower than Jan. 23 bids for January delivery of $6.75-6.90, mostly $6.8325. White club wheat premiums for this week ranged from zero to 50 cents, mostly 25 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids compared to last week at zero to 50, mostly 33 cents.
One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were $8.50-8.87, mostly $8.7475. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Jan. 24 at mostly $6.7850 and moved lower to mostly $6.7350 on Jan. 27 and held at that level on Jan. 28. Bids moved to the weekly low of mostly $6.59 on Jan. 29 and ended the reporting week Jan. 30 at $6.61.
Several exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.6850-6.8850, March $6.6850-6.9350, April and May $6.7125-6.9125 and August New Crop $6.2825-6.3825.
One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $8.75-8.92, March $8.80-8.92, April $8.82-8.9575, May $8.84-8.9575 and August New Crop $8.0775-8.3275.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 23, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 979.9 thousand MT compared to 812.6 thousand MT on Jan. 16 and 1018.6 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: South Korea 320.4, Japan 209.7, Philippines 130.7, Thailand 48.0, Taiwan 21.9, Colombia 20.0, Nigeria 19.2, Guatemala 18.8, Burma 4.4, Mexico 2.6, Vietnam 2.6, Malaysia 1.4, Canada 1.1, Hong Kong 0.4 and total unknown 178.7. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Jan. 23 in 1000 MT for the 2013-14 marketing year, totaled 2664.8 compared to 3020.2 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 23, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 49.7 compared to 49.8 on Jan. 16, and 2.1 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 47.3, Taiwan 1.7 and South Korea 0.8. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Jan. 23, were 76.7 thousand MT compared to 120.7 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were also not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for January delivery were $265, steady compared to Jan. 23 noon bids.
