Domestic wool trading on a clean basis was at a standstill this week. There were no confirmed trades and demand was moderate. Some warehouses are beginning to get some wool into the warehouse. The vast majority of producers that shear this time of year are just getting things prepared for shearing. Domestic wool trading on a greasy basis was at a standstill this week. There were no confirmed trades.

Compared to Jan. 17: Slaughter lambs were steady to as much as $20 lower, with most decline at San Angelo, Texas. Slaughter ewes were steady to $9 lower. Feeder lambs were weak to $10 lower. At San Angelo, 3,957 head sold in a one day sale. No sales in Equity Electronic Auction. In direct trading slaughter ewes were not tested; feeder lambs steady. 5,000 head of negotiated sales of slaughter lambs were steady and 10,400 head of formula sales of carcasses under 55 lbs. were not well tested; 55-65 lbs. were $5-7 higher; 65-75 lbs. were $3-4 lower; 75-85 lbs. were firm; 85-95 lbs. were $4-5 higher and no test on over 95 lbs. 5,729 lamb carcasses sold with 45 lbs. and down $13.17 lower; 45-55 lbs. $1.58 higher; 55-65 lbs. 3.85 higher and 65 lbs. and up .27-1.52 higher.

San Angelo: shorn and wooled 100-155 lbs. $152-172, few $174-178.

SLAUGHTER LAMBS Choice and Prime 1:

San Angelo: 40-60 lbs. $214-232; 60-70 lbs. $200-222; 73 lbs. $214; 90-110 lbs. $175-180.

DIRECT TRADING (Lambs with 3-4 percent shrink or equivalent):

5,000 Slaughter Lambs shorn and wooled 125-164 lbs. $140-174 (wtd. avg. $154.31); 173-192 lbs. $145-164 (wtd. avg. 164.72); no dressed sales reported.

California: 1,500 Feeder Lambs 70-75 lbs. new crop $200.


San Angelo: Good 2-3 (fleshy) $59-68; Utility and Good 1-3 (medium flesh) $70-78, few $82-86; Utility 1-2 (thin) $60-71; Cull and Utility 1-2 (very thin) $40-56.

FEEDER LAMBS Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: 67 lbs. $205; 70-100 lbs. $190-208; 100-115 lbs. $190-192; 124 lbs. $179.

REPLACEMENT EWES Medium and Large 1-2:

San Angelo: Yearling wooled 113 lbs. $128 cwt; baby tooth wooled $125 per head; yearling hair ewes 125 lbs. $140 cwt.
