BROWNS VALLEY, Calif. — The University of California’s Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources will hold a workshop here Jan. 29 to advise ranchers how to manage their herds in the current drought.
The 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. workshop will include information on getting the most effective use out of limited pasture, alternative protein and roughage supplementation, understanding the economics of supplementation, managing animal health, making culling decisions and tax and insurance issues, according to a news release.
The meeting will be held at the UC Sierra Foothill Research and Extension Center, 8279 Scott Forbes Rd. Registration is $10 and includes lunch.
