Nassif keynotes labor conference

The Washington Farm Labor Association's 10th annual Labor Conference will be keynoted by Tom Nassif, president and CEO of Western Growers.

KENNEWICK, Wash. — Tom Nassif, president and CEO of Western Growers, Irvine, Calif., will give the luncheon keynote address at the 10th annual Labor Conference of the Washington Farm Labor Association.

The conference is at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick, Feb. 13. The all-day event follows the association's half-day Workforce Summit at the center.

Nassif was a key negotiator in the agricultural portion of last year's Senate bill on immigration reform. He has been a labor attorney, private business executive and was acting chief of White House protocol, a deputy assistant secretary of state and ambassador to Morocco in the Reagan administration. Nassif was profiled in the Sept. 20 edition of Capital Press.

Western Growers represents growers, packers and shippers of produce in California and Arizona, about half the produce grown in the U.S.

The Workforce Summit focuses on issues involving H-2A foreign guestworkers. The Labor Conference includes presentations on Obamacare, employment issues and immigration reform. Ten, one-hour break-out sessions provide information from attorneys and regulators on human resource issues.

The meetings are billed as "concrete solutions" for human resources professionals and company owners. More information and registration: wafla.org.
