CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT

Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 9, at $6.7925-6.8425, mostly $6.8250. Bids were 2.75 to 12.75 cents per bushel lower than Jan. 2 bids for January delivery of $6.82-6.97, mostly $6.89. White club wheat premiums for this week ranged from zero to 50 cents, mostly 33 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids compared to zero to 50 cents, mostly 16 cents per bushel last week.

One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were $8.30-8.46, mostly $8.3675.

Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Jan. 3 at mostly $6.9750, before moving lower on Jan. 6 to mostly $6.9575 and continued lower to mostly $6.9075 on Jan. 7 and to mostly $6.77 on Jan. 8. Bids ended the reporting week Jan. 9 at mostly $6.8250.

Several exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.8925-6.9425, March $6.8425-7.10, April $6.8450-7.12 and May $6.8450-$6.9950. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $8.3550-8.46, March $8.3550-8.47, April $8.4450-8.49 and May $8.4450-8.52.

Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Jan. 2, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 865.6 thousand MT compared to 952.2 thousand MT on Dec. 26, and 1219.5 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: South Korea 191.1, Japan 153.8, Philippines 115.7, Thailand 58.5, Guatemala 29.8, Indonesia 28.0, Colombia 20.0, Nigeria 19.2, Taiwan 11.9, Burma 4.0, Mexico 3.3, Canada 1.5, Malaysia 1.5, Sri Lanka 0.5, Hong Kong 0.3, Vietnam 0.3, and total unknown 226.2. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Jan. 2, in 1000 MT for the 2013-14 marketing year, totaled 2,483.6 compared to 2,587.3 one year ago.

Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Jan. 2, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 50.2 compared to 50.0 on Dec. 26, 2013, and 1.1 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 47.3, Taiwan 2.1 and South Korea 0.8. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Jan. 2, were 76.1 thousand MT compared to 120.2 one year ago.

COARSE FEEDING GRAINS

Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were also not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for January delivery were $265, steady compared to Jan. 2 noon bids.
