CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during January ended the reporting week on Thursday, Jan. 2, at $6.82-6.97, mostly $6.89. Bids were mixed, from four cents lower to one cent per bushel higher than Dec. 26 bids for January delivery of $6.86-6.96.
White club wheat premiums for this week ranged from zero to 50 cents, mostly 16 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids. Last week white club wheat bids ranged from zero to 50 cents per bushel, mostly 25 cents over bids for soft white wheat.
One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for January delivery were $8.2525-8.40, mostly $8.3325.
Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Dec. 27 at mostly $6.8150, and then moved lower to $6.7275 on Dec. 30 before jumping higher to mostly $6.7775 on Dec. 31. Bids ended the reporting week Jan. 2 at the weekly high of mostly $6.89. Several exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat this week.
Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February $6.87-7.02, March $6.92-7.08, April $6.7875-7.10 and May $6.9875-7.0375. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: February and March $8.35-8.45, April $8.38-8.46 and May $8.41-8.46.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Dec. 26, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 952.2 thousand MT compared to 959.9 thousand MT on Dec. 19, and 1260.2 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: South Korea 192.1, Japan 184.0, Philippines 134.4, Thailand 58.5, Guatemala 29.8, Indonesia 28.0, Taiwan 24.5, Colombia 20.0, Nigeria 19.2, Malaysia 9.0, Burma 4.0, Mexico 3.3, Canada 1.6, Sri Lanka 1.5, Vietnam 0.6, Hong Kong 0.5, and total unknown 241.2. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Dec. 26, in 1000 MT for the 2013-2014 marketing year, totaled 2395.1 compared to 2498.6 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Dec. 26, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 50.0 compared to 50.0 on Dec. 19, and 1.1 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 47.7, Taiwan 1.5 and South Korea 0.8. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Dec. 26, were 75.3 thousand MT compared to 120.2 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were also not available. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for December delivery were $265, steady compared to Dec. 26 noon bids.
