Idaho farmers and ranchers pulled in a record amount of cash receipts in 2013, the third consecutive record year for Gem State agriculture. Net farm income, though, was down slightly compared with 2012.

BOISE — Idaho farmers and ranchers in 2013 posted a third consecutive year of record cash receipts. The $7.82 billion total was a 3 percent increase over 2012.

University of Idaho ag economists also project that net farm income in Idaho totaled $2.73 billion in 2013, a slight decline of $12 million from 2012 but still 56 percent above the 10-year average.

The numbers were released to lawmakers Jan. 2 by John Foltz, dean of UI’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. They are included in the report, “The Financial Condition of Idaho Agriculture: 2013.”
