Workshops to explain value-added grants
Northwest Agriculture Business Center will lead two workshops for farmers who want to apply for value-added producer grants.
Two workshops in January will help producers learn about and apply for USDA value-added grants.
The grant program is for farmers who want to add value to their products and sell the end product to consumers. Examples are making jam from berries or cheese from milk. Grants can be made for planning or for working capital.
Northwest Agriculture Business Center will lead both events under the guidance of project manager Fred Berman:
• Jan. 8 in Burlington from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Skagit Farmers Supply, Burlington Main Office, 1833 Park Lane. Parking and entrance are on the south side of building. The Economic Development Association of Skagit County will also join in the workshop.
• Jan. 14 in Chehalis from 9 a.m.-noon at the USDA Service Center, 1554 Bishop Road.
