A major feed supplier claims that an egg producer in Washington state has failed to pay more than $370,000 for about 830 tons of soybean meal. Purina Animal Nutrition has filed a federal lawsuit against the National Food Corp of Everett, Wash.

A Washington state egg farm is accused of refusing to pay its chicken feed supplier more than $370,000 it was owed.

Purina Animal Nutrition has filed a lawsuit against National Food Corp. of Everett, Wash., claiming the egg producer and marketer didn’t fully pay for roughly 830 tons of soybean meal earlier this year.

Capital Press was unable to reach an executive of the National Food Corp. for comment.

The complaint, which accuses the egg farm of unjust enrichment and breach of contract, seeks compensation for the feed as well as interest and other costs.

Earlier this year, the National Food Corp. agreed to pay $650,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The agency claimed that the company’s management “fired or forced out” employees who complained about a supervisor who allegedly demanded sexual favors from a female hen house worker.

The alleged harasser no longer works for the company and the settlement prevents National Food Corp. from re-hiring him.
