Excellence in Agriculture award nominees sought

Nominations are being sought for the new Excellence in Agriculture award, which will be presented during the Spokane Ag Expo.

A newly created Excellence in Agriculture award will be presented at the 2014 Spokane Ag Expo and Pacific Northwest Farm Forum in February.

The purpose of the award, which will be presented by the AgriBusiness Council of Greater Spokane Inc., is to recognize an individual, business or organization that has had a significant and positive influence on the agricultural industry in the Inland Northwest during 2013.

All nominations must be received at the AgriBusiness Council office no later than Dec. 2. Persons may nominate as many individuals, groups or organizations as they like. The only information required is the name of the nominee and a contact name and daytime telephone number.

A nomination form can be found online at www.agshow.org that can be copied and filled out, or simply forward a written nomination to: Excellence in Agriculture Award, Greater Spokane Inc., 801 W. Riverside, Ste. 100, Spokane, WA 99201 or email it to moleary@greaterspokane.org.

When considering an individual, business or organization for the award, the selection committee will consider the following criteria: innovation in agriculture; economic and environmental stewardship; contribution to agriculture; impact on agriculture; and industry awareness and outreach.

Nominations will be narrowed to selected finalists and announced in late January prior to Spokane Ag Expo, which will be Feb. 4-6. The winner will be announced during show week. For more information, contact Myrna O’Leary at 509-321-3633 ormoleary@greaterspokane.org .
