I find the uproar about genetically modified foods pathetically amusing.

People have been eating modified foods since they planted desirable plants outside their cave. Whenever a genetic mutation occurred that gave a favorable result, they naturally selected it. These were rare and progress was slow.

Much later someone decided to try cross pollination in species to capture the best features of both. Most of the time it failed but occasional success kept the effort going. Over many years many genetically improved varieties were developed.

Now tools are available to do the job much faster and suddenly genetically modified foods are evil.

Odd, isn’t it?
