Three large California dairy co-ops have set meetings for their members to discuss joining the federal milk marketing order system as a means to raise milk prices. DFA, Land O'Lakes and California Dairies Inc., representing about 80 percent of the state's milk production, commissioned a study on the issue last winter.
Three major California dairy cooperatives will hold four meetings to discuss the possible formation of a federal milk marketing order, according to Monday’s DairyBusiness Update.
The meetings are open to members of California Dairies, Inc., Dairy Farmers of America and Land O’Lakes only and are not open to the public.
The meetings are scheduled for:
Orland — Sept. 18, 10 a.m., Eagles Hall, 6381 County Road 200
Modesto — Sept. 19, 9 a.m., Harvest Hall, Stanislaus Ag Center, 3800 Cornucopia Way
Tulare — Sept. 19, 3 p.m., International Agri Center, 4500 S. Laspina
Chino — Sept. 20, 10 a.m., Chino Fairgrounds, 5410 Edison Ave.
The three co-ops, which represent about 80 percent of California’s milk, commissioned a study last winter to see if the state’s dairy producers should join the federal milk marketing order system as a means of increasing milk prices.
