CASH SOFT WHITE WHEAT
Pacific Northwest: Bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat, delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during August ended the reporting week on Thursday, Aug. 15, at $7.20-7.3250, mostly $7.2550. Bids were $3 to $7.50 cents per bushel higher than Aug. 8 noon bids for August delivery of $7.17-7.25, mostly $7.2125. White club wheat premiums for this week and last week ranged from zero to 20 cents per bushel, mostly zero cents. One year ago bids for U.S. 1 Soft White Wheat and white club wheat for August delivery were $8.30-8.50, mostly $8.42. Nearby bids for U.S. 1 Soft White wheat began the week on Aug. 9 at mostly $7.1925, then fell to mostly $7.1125 on Aug. 12, and mostly $7.10 on Aug. 13, before jumping to $7.1625 on Aug. 14. Aug. 15, bids moved to the weekly high of mostly $7.2550. Soft white wheat bids were pressured by the lower Chicago September wheat futures. New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were to South Korea and Taiwan. Forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: September $7.20-7.3750, October $7.20-7.3950, November $7.25-7.3950 and December $7.2950-7.3950. One year ago, forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows: September and October $8.30-8.50, November $8.46-8.58 and December $8.46-8.63.
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of Aug. 8, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, totaled 1100.5 thousand MT compared to 1042.5 thousand MT on Aug. 1, and 1225.0 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 204.5, Philippines 200.5, China 120.0, Yemen 95.0, South Korea 77.3, Guatemala 59.8, Indonesia 50.0, Thailand 29.5, Nigeria 19.2, Malaysia 11.1, Taiwan 11.1, Vietnam 3.3, Hong Kong 1.6, Canada 1.0, Burma 0.6, and total unknown 216.0. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of Aug. 8, in 1000 MT for the 2013-14 marketing year, totaled 516.2 compared to 709.5 one year ago.
Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of Aug. 8, for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013, and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 44.9 compared to 46.1 on Aug. 1, and 86.9 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales for the 2013-14 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT: Japan 23.8, Libya 20.0, Taiwan 0.6 and South Korea 0.5. Accumulated barley export shipments as of Aug. 8, were 7.4 thousand MT compared to 60.3 one year ago.
COARSE FEEDING GRAINS
Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were $259.75-260.50, 2.75 per ton higher than Aug. 8 bids of $257-257.75. Bids for U.S. 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Wash., and Hermiston, Ore., were $259.50-268, $2.75 to $3 per ton higher than Aug. 8 bids of $256.50-265.25. Cash corn bids were pressured by the lower Chicago September corn futures for the week. Bids for U.S. 2 Heavy White Oats for August delivery were $255, steady with Aug. 8 noon bids.
