The Washington Apple Education Foundation raised $100,000 for scholarships through recent golf tournaments.

WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Washington Apple Education Foundation raised $100,000 for scholarships and educational programs benefiting tree fruit industry families and students at two golf tournaments.

The tournaments were held June 3 at the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club in East Wenatchee and June 17 at the Apple Tree Golf Course in Yakima. The tournaments were sponsored by Wilbur Ellis and DuPont.

The foundation was founded in 1994 by the tree fruit industry and awards about $400,000 in scholarships annually to college-bound young people of families working in the tree fruit industry.
