New wildfire burns 350 acres near Bridgeport

The fire started about 8 p.m. Tuesday and has burned about 350 acres — about half a square mile — of grass and brush.

BRIDGEPORT, Wash. (AP) — A new wildfire has broken out in Douglas County south of Bridgeport.

Department of Natural Resources spokeswoman Janet Pearce says it started about 8 p.m. Tuesday and has burned about 350 acres — about half a square mile — of grass and brush. The state is responding to help local fire districts. One helicopter is already on the scene.

Another wildfire Tuesday burned about 300 acres near Ellensburg.

Pearce says dry weather has increased the fire danger in Eastern Washington and a red flag warning could be issued Wednesday afternoon.
