Oregon farmers and ranchers have until March 16 to apply for assistance through the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program, or EQIP, which helps landowners pay for conservation projects.

Project areas include irrigation upgrades, forest thinning, wildlife habitat improvements and soil erosion protection.

Last year, the NRCS invested $18 million in Oregon through EQIP, resulting in new conservation practices on 86,000 acres.

For more information on the program or how to apply, producers can visit their local NRCS office or www.or.nrcs.usda.gov.
