BERKELEY, Calif. — A group here is offering to help fledgling farmers come up with the fee for being certified as organic.

Through Sept. 30, people who sign up for a free database service called FarmsReach can request a waiver of the $325 California Certified Organic Farmers application fee, the group announced in a news release.

Founded in 2007, FarmsReach and its offline Farmers Guild Network are platforms for farmers to access the information, inputs and services they need, according to the release. The 31-year-old CCOF is one of the nation’s oldest and largest organic certifying agencies.

As part of its program, FarmsReach is offering an optional two- to three-hour “Going Organic” workshop, in which a CCOF employee will guide them in filling out the application.
